I’m a huge Jon oliver fan. I understand what he’s saying. This is a brutal brutal sport. Every collision is like a car crash. It’s hard to understand how we haven’t come up with something better protect the heads of these players.

It’s not one injury he’s talking about. It’s been a problem for decades. Suicide rates with those that have CTE are high. Their brains don’t function normally from the toll they’ve taken in the field. If we are thinking rationally and just based on pure safety….the sport should not exist. But that’s not reality. Plus I need to bet.

If it's just a safety thing that I definitely understand. But there's definitely a ton of more factors that go into it

In its current form he's 100% right.

The game has evolved, via rule change, into a niche sport w respect to emphasis on skill players.

If the game were played as it was in the 60s and 70s and 80s, there'd only be 20-25 passes per game, More emphasis on running and tackling and blocking.

The air it ot mentality along w the rules put in place to promote it leads to soo many instances of smaller 'skill' players being put in situations where seriously harm or injury could occur. Situations that existed years ago, but common sense dictated you don't "go there" because of the consequences...

The only other alternative is to have height/ weight restrictions.

ok so this is something ive been drawn with. cause i wouldn't want my child getting hurt, but say in highschool your kid is extremely athletic and wants to play football. say he has a chance of being something big too. what do you do
You find a smarter outlet or let your kid become a brain damaged CTE case before he's 40. I would not allow it there's always another alternative. You make them understand why and tell them you're protecting them.

As you watch him grow you'll learn real quick whether the kid has 'it' or not.

If he's aloof or picking dandelions or staring at the sky then it's not his thing, if he's focused, interested, and equal to his peers in athletic ability then he'll be fine until the next growth spurt...HS roll around he better have some beef to him!

Now Le....of course our child will be 6'3 210, lean yet muscular, dark hair w Steph Curry eyes. Only question is who gets to him first, Notre Dame, The NFL or GQ magazine.

You can tell immediately lol
of course you can tell immediately, i was saying if your kid was built like a fridge and was extremely athletic and they really wanted to play.

and minny, the chances of "our" child being 6'3" is pushing it. i'm a whopping 5'3" lol

So l just looked it up Tatum died at age 61 and Dayryl Stingley a wide receiver Tatum paralyzed died at age 55. I think that say’s it all.

I was watching live back in the day when Tatum hit Earl Campbell with all he had at the goal line and Earl still managed to cross the goal line backwards and Tatum just looked down shaking his head as to how Cambell didn’t go down. It is a violent sport.

If you guys had a kid it would probably be an axe wielding maniac who wants to fight and fukk the world while enjoying painting and a fine cigar. That is if it happens to be a girl.
