Since KenPom started tracking, every winner has started the tourny w/ a top 25 defensive efficiency and a top 40 offensive efficiency.

Take a look at his ratings when Conf Tourny's are done and pick accordingly.
Based on the ratings today (which will change some), I would select from:
UCLA
Purdue
Alabama
Houston
Kansas

And then drop Kansas (tough for teams to repeat) and Purdue (they always seem to lose when they should win).

Bama
Houston
UCLA

Drop some on each and expect a winner IMO.
We'll see how the rating come out after Conf Tournys are over and update the list.

Are there Houston and Alabama Final Four odds?

Fade and parlay them if possible seems like it could be good value based on these odds
Browsing, looks like you could get +200ish maybe on parlaying them to not make Final Four

f*** I may take a stab at that.

Houston is basically just defensive-oriented Gonzaga, and Alabama's guards turn the ball over more than Playoff James Harden

I said I wasn't going to do it but in the end I couldn't help myself so I threw $20 on Kentucky to reach the Final Four at +1000 and another $20 on them to win the whole thing at +3500. Guess I should've waited because they lost on Senior night at Rupp but I still believe and of course they're my team so it's always going to be Kentucky or nothing for me when it comes to the futures market. I think I feel better about the Final Four bet because depending on their draw I like how they match up against certain teams. I will say that if Cason Wallace is seriously injured then I'm probably going to end up regretting these bets but I just consider them pizza money wagers anyway.

Btw I think if I were going to pick a non Kentucky winner in the futures market I'd take a look at UCLA, Houston or Kansas. I don't like Alabama with all the controversy surrounding their team and Brandon Miller. Plus I just don't know if I can back a team that depends on the 3 ball in March as they usually have one game where they go cold and that spells disaster. So I think UCLA would be my first choice because they're good on defense and offense plus they have experience on this roster. Then I'd go Kansas because as I mentioned previously they don't have many chinks in their armor plus they may be just as good if not better than last year when they won it all. Houston is interesting because I love their coach Kelvin Sampson and Marcus Sasser is a great player but I don't know what to make of them in March as a tourney favorite.

In a year where there are no clear standouts, why not throw some money on your squad (especially when it's UK), when you can get them at those odds??? I would do the same thing with my squad (BC) if they had a shot to make the big dance.....we all know that's not happening

I want to like them because they're an SEC team and I'm an SEC guy in both football and basketball since Kentucky is my team which means I root for the other schools to do well when they're not playing UK..... but I just think its a big red flag when a team relies so heavily on the 3 point shot. Who knows maybe they prove me wrong and win the whole thing but I have my doubts just because of their style of play just not being sustainable in March which is just my two cents.

Excellent comments Jrgum.
Agree 100% with Bama being distracted. I see that being a big story as they advance and causing issues.
