Under pressure from the TV networks, the College Football rules committee is trying to shorten football game broadcast times. Most gamblers love wagering on the OVER, but the newly implemented rule for the 2023 season will cause a few heartbreaks. The New Clock rule: According to this rule, the clock will continue to run after an offense gains a first down except within two minutes of a half. Under the old law, the game clock stopped when a team earned a first down, and the clock restarted when the offense picked up the first down. Valuable game time will tick away as the chain gang won't be eager to run down the field as fast to set the new first-down marker, and teams that snap the ball late in the play clock will take entire quarters to finish drives. Imagine a 15-minute drive leading to a missed field goal? It will happen. The College game is starting to get more like the NFL Game. Be careful when wagering on high totals. |
