The way Dana White pays his fighters has taken some wind out of me on UFC
To think that other main sports pay their athletes a lot more % than UFC does
when UFC is the most dangerous and physically life altering sport any athlete
could do .... really makes me dislike Dana White.

Fighters are treated as independent contractors. This gets the UFC out of paying any retirement benefits or any long term health insurance.

You're right, the revenue share is less than the big leagues by a ton. NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB all have revenue sharing contracts with like 50% in place. MLS shares more then 75% of it's revenue with players.

UFC is at 18.6% or so of revenue being paid out to the fighters. The PPV money generators definitely get more than the others, Dana White takes care of the breadwinners and he makes 20 million a year.

It's not all Dana White's fault. There is no union to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement. You can't play the negotiating game with company execs without a union. They need a union.

There's also the tax issues imposed on the fighters, and their expenses. It's a mess. Not to mention the sponsorship issues. A union could help with that.
