Looking at the Padres vs DBacks a little closer.
DBacks won last night and I had even posted they had the advantage last night before this series started.
DBacks first half of the season looked so good. Shoot they were ahead of the Dodgers for a while.
This first place team before the All Star break are now a unbelievable 6-20 in the 2nd half!
let me say that again!
6-20 !! Wow
now let’s look at the padres they clearly underachieved the first half. There’s no doubt about that..
You Would have thought they picked it up the second half. In a way the first half was so bad they actually have but there still under 500 for the second half. They are at an unbelievable 13 and 14 for the second half.
13-14 wow.
So the question is, are they going to get to 500 or better the second half of the season and even if they play 500 or better the second half with the record at the end of the season be over 500?
Let’s look at the pitching matchup for today.
Lugo for the Padres
Lugo has a Pitched this year more innings than he has in the past. Now he was pitching a gem the last time out until I believe it was like the fifth inning and then he got rocked. I think Lugos arm may have come to the point where he may hit a wall. I don’t think he’ll go very many innings today.
Now the DBacks are throwing out Pfaadt. Who in the heck is this guy?
0-6 with an era over 7! Ouch
Pitching at home he is worse 0-4 with over a 8 ERA
Now there is also a question regarding the Dodgers being able to steal the pitches that inning with runners on second.
If they did then that would point to Lugo not hitting a wall with his pitch count. Honestly I think it is a little of both.
Right now neither one of these teams are doing anything to make you think they are ready for a run.
