If you buy new than it takes longer to run into the ground haha
I've gone both ways (yep - just like it sounds but with respect to buying new or used).

I buy new for the wife and kids. They need reliable cars with a known history so I don't stress about them.

I buy used for myself. Usually certified pre-owned with a little warranty still left. I run the used car until the wheels fall off like lemurian said. Also, having one car that needs to be worked on keeps me in touch with the mechanic (s#itty one) in me.

And you know you put in the maintenance to make it last longer. That is my theory though. I only buy new
I'm really surprised you only buy new.
With your mechanical background I would have thought you loved working on cars. There's nothing like a used car to keep your hands dirty.

Nope, don't even like to change the oil as have to take it somewhere anyway to dispose of it so let someone else deal with it. Time is money. When I worked hard and long hours 6 days a week, I just wanted to relax catching up on shows with the family and bet games when they were doing other shit. I was a headerman(bring on the jokes. hahaha) so made rivets/screws. Hell one production job we made Cock-rings. I shit you not. Dirtiest fvcking place ever and made rubber cock rings for a medical company. That was always a nice intro meeting chicks. "I make cock-rings..." Place was literally hell. Well over 100 degrees year round. In a blizzard we were wearing shorts. Get burned all the fvcking time. No AC because would cool down the molds. Some of the molds were hundreds of pounds you pushed in and out of the presses all night long. Unfortunately, I lost most of that muscle over the years. Only plus was cooking your lunch on the presses and it was part of the Steel-Workers Union.

I have been fortunate to work many occupations most haven't so have a huge appreciation for how hard some have to work to provide and do whatever it takes for their family.

I understand the rationale.
Interesting job title and task. I won't take any shots. It would be too easy. :lmao:
