Time in hospital - hoping for Friday - likely Monday/Tuesday though. Home the first week will be a test.

They have given me anti nausea meds with morphine.

Nurses - average here, some nice ones in the step down units. Unfortunately- can’t take any pics in ICU (claim hippa and fact everything is open. I wanted to record this old black lady who just won’t shut up - 6am it starts with screaming “doc” - not angry - just how she talks.

Different experience honestly - going to urinate and having some nurse watching

Hope so - I’m able to get up and move with minimal assistance - which is nice.

Hard learning to pick yourself up with your legs - can’t push off using your arms at all.

Vitals all good and minimal/no pain.

God, have no idea how people work as nurses - much less aides. Nurse your at least paid well to be an ass wiper / aide making $14.50 an hour wouldn’t seem worth it - but thank god someone does it. Getting old sucks - don’t plan on repeating this experience for a few decades - big wake up call seeing what life is like in a hospital.

My wife is a nurse.
She says, it comes with the job and she doesn't even think about it being bad.

Its so good that you are up and about. Recovery is so much faster when people move (walk or even bed excercises). Hopefully, they gave you a chest pillow to hold to help you remember to not use your arms.

Hanging in there - next Dr appointment next week - in the mean time doing rehab and working out supervised with a heart monitor.

Still weird to me to realize I’m just under 2 months post surgery - feels much longer.

Work wants me back - and I feel like I’m ready in a way - just need dr to sign off. Of course I felt like I was fine to work right up to the point where the Dr told me get my ass to the ER that I had a heart attack and then thinking I’d be out 2-3 days after getting a stent popped in and artery opened up.

Guess we see what doc says and go from there. In a way I’d be fine with continuing to collect disability - but of course they want me back as soon as I’m able and would be nice to be back to making a full paycheck while sitting at home doing a little work.

As much as possible try to stay away from stress and anxiety, DJ.

Yea - that’s my real challenge daily.

Honestly - I don’t stress over gambling (much).

Controlling the urge to punch some people though…it’s tough and I’m not even working at the moment. Once I start back to work I know that will be tougher to control. People cannot help but be idiots.

day to day - nothing more than Tylenol.

Was on an IV drip the first 2 days - cannot remember what it was - obviously some good shit.

Gave me a wristband indicating what it was for staff - no control over it - you just got what they allowed and that was it - no pump/button to receive mores
You missed out. Tell them your pain level is an 8 out of 10.

What an adventure DJ.

Good to see the positive outcome so far.

From reading the thread it sounds like you have some recovery and lifestyle changes ahead.

Good luck and stay disciplined.

:cheers2:

Yea - it’s been an “adventure” - that’s for sure.

Looking back - I’m just under 2 months post surgery and feels like forever ago. Able to don anything I did before and probably a little more.

It was a wake up call - and still is in a way. I think - “this was no big deal” - go into rehab and talk with people who went through similar and I’m in much better shape than many of them - especially since they had surgery 3-4 months ago. Of course most are 70+ too.

I talk to some friends who went through this at my age and they are like yea - it was scary in the moment but I’m on the right track. But then I get on FB and see something that just reminds me how damn close I came to not being here. Right after I went into hospital - I heard from one of my big clients at work - just wishing me well and said one of his drivers about my age just went through something similar - then coincidentally the home health nurse tells me he has another patient around my age who just had the same surgery 2 weeks before me - didn’t take much to figure out it was same guy that worked for my client given it’s a relatively small town.

The nurse mentioned the other guy was having some issues - partially brought on by rushing back and not understanding there are limits as to what you should be doing for a reason. Got on FB yesterday and my client had shared his obit and asked for prayers for the family as well as setting up a fund raiser for them to help with expenses. It’s just like “shit - this could have really turned out bad - having to read about someone who just left an unexpected widow and kid getting ready to go to college in a year and leaving them with a sudden drop off in income.

I guess I’m “fortunate” - no kids, fairly financially secure and Mrs is set if anything happens to me as I’ve got fairly good life insurance. Of course no amount of money can replace a person - it just eases the burden financially. So yea - I’ve gotten my reminder not let up on the changes.
