Because they were shitholes. Vet stadium turf was a players worst night nightmare.

I have a ton of great memories there but it was a shithole
They were the cookie cutter stadiums l mentioned earlier in thread. They were everywhere

I remember a preseason game at The Vet with the Baltimore coach I forget his name wouldn’t play the game because of the field all the wrinkles

reading more and more about players believing in a connection between cancer (especially brain) and playing in the vet
Odd because nothing of notice with the Eagle players so maybe not the turf. Radar gun interesting but why not the other clubs around the league. Surely the same radar equipment is used. Add in other cancer like Kruk and Schilling had. So is it a combo of chew/turf/radar

you have to remember an NFL team only had 8 regular season games there vs 81 by the baseball players. and baseball players generally had way longer careers so more exposure.

I'm calling bs on Candlestick being #2. Went there for the first time in 1975. All I can remember is the miserable night games. Freezing and windy. The bathtubs they used where 10 people could piss at once was an Asian guys nightmare. F that.

Damn, maybe you're on to something here Archie.
That would be crazy if this was right. Can you imagine the number of lawsuits that would arise?

I mean it's not my theory, it's been written about quite a bit. but yeah 6 recent brain cancer deaths among former phillies is odd. maybe something with the adhesive or chemicals used to apply the turf to the concrete.

the Flyers recently were sued for having chemicals involved with the zamboni that caused cancer oddly enough.

weird world

I could see this.... the ball is always touching the turf, then u touch the ball then its (chemicals) are on you.

You stand out there in the scorching sun all summer breathing it in.

The odds are pretty good that these guys ingested some type of cancer causing carcinogen that was activated by sun or heat (hence mlb not nfl) and overtime it exceeded a toleranle level of their respective bodies ability to cleanse or filter.

3M in Minny here is ALWAYS paying out locally for EPA violations on stuff they experimented on in the 70s & 80s then let slide into a laje or incinerated because it's toxic levels were misleading.

In fact I think they got hit this week again. Guaranteed 3M has a chemical or 2 in that Vet Stadium rug.
