That may well be your opinion, but the facts at this very juncture say they are still in the hunt. None of us can guarantee the future. Goff could get injured and their running game already has injury issues ( re: their bad beatdown to Baltimore ).
Everyone kept saying Miami were serious SB contenders after putting 70 pts on Denver. They followed that up with a 48 - 20 embarrassment at Buffalo. NO team is guaranteed anything. That's why they play the game.
They could win the division if Detroit runs into severe injury issues, sure, but they aren't on the level of true contender any way you slice it. A lot of bad teams win shitty divisions then get throttled at home in the playoffs. That's what the NFC South champ

Being in 7-10th seed purgatory is not where you wanna be in the NFL

They're not gonna have Cousins next year anyway. Might as well try to flip him for a couple second rounders

They could win the division by beating Detroit in their 2 games remaining against each other.
Your thread reads " Why are Minnesota not trying to trade Kirk Cousins ". For me, and others here, the reason is obvious. He is a very good QB who gives them the BEST chance to make the playoffs. That is the main goal of every team in the NFL. He has over 2000 passing yds with 16 TD's and 5 Ints this season. All this with limited resources at his disposal. You don't attempt to trade your best assets while you are still in the playoff hunt, which Minnesota is.
That's my opinion on your threads query

Kirk Cousins is a middle pack of the guy

Heā€™s played well at times, which means his value is probably as high as itā€™ll get

Minnesota is smart enough to know that this team isnā€™t going anywhere this year
Scrapping for a wild card is not a desirable place to be in the NFL. They barely beat 2 of the worst teams in the league, and probably shouldā€™ve lost to the Niners if not for that lucky interception by Cousins that turned into a touchdown

Plus you know heā€™s gonna leave anyway at the end of the year, may as well try to get something

They also wouldnā€™t win the division by doing this

They could very easily still not win the division if this happened.

But itā€™s probably not going to happen anyway because Minnesota is a mediocre team
If they won both games against Detroit and ended up tied overall , yes they would.
Mediocre team ? I disagree fully. Like Buffalo ,SF , Miami and Detroit , they have lost games they shouldn't have.
Even without Jefferson they beat the supposedly invincible 49ers. Stay tuned

" Scrapping for a wild card " is a dream of many many teams.
For the record , ANY playoff game generates a lot of additional revenue for a team. The game is a business and revenue is the reason they play for a playoff position.
If Cousins is " mediocre " why are so many teams interested. How has he accumulated those impressive stats with a sub par team ?
Your argument, and the title of this thread contradict those statements.

Scrapping for a wild card is the dream of shitty franchises. Franchises that never are interested in winning a Super Bowl, which is the whole point.

I guess if Minnesota is a shitty franchise, then sure hold on to him to hope for a *maybe* a 9-8 season and wild card exit, with no shot at a Super Bowl before he leaves for nothing in the offseason

Or start over, lock Jefferson (your best player by far) for the long term and get a cheap QB in a rich draft/build a roster around him, and get some capital for Cousins

They can't have Cousins and Jefferson next year anyway

There are 3-4 teams that would trade for him for a short term rental/have a good roster, so it's not so many

If they ended up tied. But Detroit has a much easier schedule

It's moot because they aren't beating the Lions twice. Maybe a split.

If you think Minnesota is an above average team, you're pretty stupid (no offense). Upsets happen in the NFL, and they probably lose that game to a banged up Niners team if not for the luckiest play of the season -- when Cousins threw an interception before the half that somehow turned into a touchdown

No one thinks the Vikings are better than the Niners, unless you're retarded

They were not good last year either. 11-0 in one-score games, negative point differential

Barely beat Chicago and Carolina, should've lost to SF. But sure, they're a good team LOL

Sounds like you have the entire NFL all figured out. Every team sucks and every QB is sh*t
Maybe you could enlighten us all on which team will win and who will lead them to the promised land. Clearly anyone with a contrasting opinion to your own is a moron.

Chill out lol

Just trying to help the folks out. Joe Square watches that Monday Night Game and overreacts....that's how Vegas makes money

No clue who wins it all, but I think we all know the Niners are going farther than the Vikings.

And I mean..... I am pretty damn good at betting it

Me too

5 straight years of posted profits in football.
17 - 10 ( + 17.79 units ) this season. Not bad for being " retarded " or " stupid ".

And I still don't pretend to know everything about the NFL, nor would I disrespect anyone for having a different opinion then my own.

No one be called you retarded

You didnā€™t say the Vikings are good or better than the Niners.

Just saying people who think that are dumb. Not exactly a hot take
