He said over there everyone gets a book where they can only have so many food items per month

They still are, for example Vietnam is communist but it the most capitalist society I have ever seen in my life. Communism doesn't stop anyone from doing anything they want here.

You could not pay me to leave Vietnam, I will die here. I lived in China but too difficult there for me but very nice. Lao is amazing , I have never been to Cuba and not interested, I want to visit North Korea, I applied to go on a special tour that some Vietnamese were going on, but I was denied.

My brother went there but he had to go through Mexico to get there. Not sure if that has changed.
