I had grits for the first time when I was 18 at Charleston Naval Base at the Restaurant next to the Exchange Lady asked would I like grits with that I asked what are grits she said I make some Fer ya. I had Bacon Eggs Bisquuts and Gravy and grits with butter and Louisiana Hot sauce and I crumbled some bacon I n them I still make them today In San Diego just not from Scratch
