This would make sense, except methadone clinics, the only places authorized in the US to prescribe methadone for opiod addiction, are not free.

There are both public and private methadone clinics. Public clinics are cheaper, overcrowded, and have wait lists.

Private clinics are more expensive but are likely cleaner and way less crowded.

For those without insurance plans to cover it, there can be payment plans and payment options. Yes there are state or federal programs insurance programs, like private ones.

But none of the clinics are free.

Maybe there is some private clinic that's subsidized and free, but it really isn't fair to say methadone is free to addicts.

My g/f’s mother posted this on her FB page & didn’t inspect the truth around the message. I’ll relay your message to her as a prominent source of these two industries.

lol, I'm no expert.

But I was wondering about the free part as I almost "liked" the post. Then I thought I'd do a quick search.

I posted what I found, but I don't have to be totally right. I'm thinking any clinic that is free to some addict is probably being paid by somebody, a charity or the gov't insurance.

Different topic but when it comes to the chemo drugs, sadly, it is part of an ongoing national shortage of meds. Pain meds getting on those lists too.

It's crazy, especially stuff like chemo. Patients simply being told the drugs aren't there right now. There are no options for them.

That's so wild to think about and I feel for anyone in those shoes right now, and there are many.

This is what is happening for my g/f’s family. Her dad is having a hard time getting the proper chemo from the insurance that he pays for. He has bile duct cancer & his life expectancy is very short from this point on. So I guess that message I posted earlier makes her family feel a type of way without actually knowing some of the facts.

Yeah can you imagine? The situation for them is already shitty and then they get a prescription and have a plan just to show up at the pharmacy or whatever and they say "sorry we're all out, we don't when we'll get more."

If they're lucky there is an alternate still available, but either insurance or simply lack of the alternate can mess that up too.

Just fukked up.

I believe the chemo shortage has a lot to do with a factory in India, as they make alot of those meds.

I had an issue, for the first time, with a pain med shortage and I did some research. This is why I know a little about the shortage.

Luckly, there was an alternate med for me, but I am stockpiling these as best I can as even the alternate could eventually run out.
