There is value at 4-1.Kentucky has been playing well of late. They have beaten everyone who is favored to win the SEC tournament in the last month. They have 4-1 odds to win.
Their play against Tennessee, Alabama, and Auburn caught my attention the past few weeks. I thought it was worth a shot too. Cal usually likes to win the conference tournament and poops the bed in the NCAAs.I'm biased but I took Kentucky at +400. No team in the SEC is playing as well as the Cats in the last 10 games and I think they have enough depth and elite offense to get it done in the SEC tournament so I took a shot with them. I also like them at +1600 to win it all but I figure I'll just bet their games individually in the Big Dance when good spots present themselves and of course pick them in my bracket to reach the Final Four and cut the nets down.

Actually quite the opposite Cal hates the conference tournament in the SEC because the championship usually is meaningless unless you need to win it to get in the dance. Your seed is determined before the championship is played because the SEC is one of the few conference tournies that finishes on Selection Sunday. Cal hasn't done well in the Big Dance lately but I think Kentucky will go on a run this year. Even though I bet them to win the conference tourney it wouldn't surprise me if someone else took them out and this is the year Kentucky gets back to the second weekend and beyond in the Big dance.Their play against Tennessee, Alabama, and Auburn caught my attention the past few weeks. I don't think even JJ can jinx this team. They have the best offense in the country and plenty of guys that can create their own shot which is underrated in the Big Dance. I would take Kentucky's guards over any team in the country that's how confident I am in this team.
Since Cal has been there Kentucky has been in the tournament championship game 8 times in 15 tournaments. Plus they haven’t won or been in the championship game the last four years. I would think that Cal values the SEC tournament for that reason since he hasn’t had any success in the NCAA tournament in nearly a decade.Actually quite the opposite Cal hates the conference tournament in the SEC because the championship usually is meaningless unless you need to win it to get in the dance. That is a great observation JJ.If you play a slow game, you could beat Kentucky pretty easy, but if you’re gonna play fast pace, they should win the title
Remember, Calipari one of the worst in game coaches, college basketball history
Cal is on record as saying he hates this tournament. Yes Kentucky has won it or been in the championship a lot in his career at Kentucky but that still doesn't change the fact he doesn't like the conference tournament because of the fact the championship game probably doesn't change your seeding even if you win it. I do agree though that Kentucky is playing the best out of anybody in that conference so I feel good about betting them at +400.Since Cal has been there Kentucky has been in the tournament championship game 8 times in 15 tournaments. Yes teams that slow the game down give Kentucky problems but Kentucky has beaten teams with elite defense which gives me hope that if they were to meet a team like Houston or Connecticut that they could beat them because their offense is so good that they can score on anyone. That is a great observation JJ.
I'm thinking a Houston, Uconn, or maybe a St. Mary's (depending upon the seedings) could put a scare in them with slow play and good defense. All are 65 tempo or slower and top 15 defense.
They do play well against good D's. I wonder how they've done against good D's with slow tempo?Yes teams that slow the game down give Kentucky problems but Kentucky has beaten teams with elite defense which gives me hope that if they were to meet a team like Houston or Connecticut that they could beat them because their offense is so good that they can score on anyone.
South Carolina smacked them in Columbia but I think if they played South Carolina again they'd have no problem beating that team. The Cats have made major strides since then and are peaking at the right time so I'm not as concerned about them facing a team that likes to slow it down and turn it into a rock fight because the Cats have shown they can win games like that. They do play well against good D's. I wonder how they've done against good D's with slow tempo?
I'm going to go back through their info and look.
