Trombetta is a sharp mid-Atlantic trainer and those guys/gals always compete well uo in Saratoga. He’s got good numbers in turf sprints, and good numbers going second time over the course. At this price, gotta jump on.

Risk $38, -$738 for meet.

Terranova used to be a goldmine at Saratoga. Now, not so much. When he was going good, he won in all scenarios, including 2-year-olds. This 2-year-old had a nice debut at Belmont, now shows up late in the meet at Saratoga. Perhaps it wasn’t good enough to compete with the high class 2-year-olds, so Terranova waited patiently to unleash.

Wasn’t meant to be. On to the next one:

Race 9
$20 Win #2 For the Thrill of It 15-1
$2 exbx 2-8
.50c tri 2,8/ALL/2,8
$2 DD 2,8/2,8,10

Sticking with Terranova. Maybe his earlier win is a sign that the barn is ready to roll.

Race 3
$20 win #2 Safe Conduct 10-1
$2 exbx 2-4
.50c tri 2,4/ALL/2,4
$2 DD 2,4/4

During the late stages of the meet, I always keep an eye out for NY based trainers shipping a horse in from out of town. This horse did a speed/fade about a month ago at Monmouth, now Serpe brings him back up to Saratoga to drop into an allowance race. With two weeks left in the meet, why not just ship the horse back to its home base in Belmont or Aqu? Perhaps because the horse is ready to run a big race? Hope so. And hope it fires out to the lead early again. Figure it has to be sharp off that last effort.

Risk $46, -$141 for meet

Speed horse yet jockey takes him back to 5th at the start. They should interview these glorified landscapers after every race. 😁

Caught a winner with Terranova yesterday, so thinking his barn was short early on. Will be playing his “second-time over the coursers” from here on out. This horse had a real nice effort here last out. Surprised to see it sitting at 8-1.

A bit of a reach, as horse is 0 for 6 career. But Lukas must think they horse has some talent, as all races have been in MSW, rather than the lower-class MCL levels. Throws the horse back out in MSW again, when he could most likely grab a cheap win in MCL. The catch? Running on turf for the first time. If the Hall of Famer thinks that might work then it’s worth a twenty to me.

$20 risk, -$247 for meet
