This means both games of Monday's doubleheader between the Braves and Mets will take place. The winner of Game 1 will clinch a playoff berth. If the loser of Game 1 wins Game 2, it will earn the final NL playoff spot. If either team is swept in the two-game series, it is out, and the Diamondbacks are in
Thanks JJ. Was just going to look this up.

Do you think they make a deal JJ and split the games????

Good info here and it didn’t seem like a copy and paste job. I’m not following MLB much so this was informative to read.

I broke it down in my other thread:

If either team sweeps, that team is the 5-seed and Arizona is the 6-seed, with the sweepee being out.
If the teams split, both teans are in with Atlanta #5, Mets #6 and Arizona out.

So the Braves would clinch the 5-seed with win in Game 1 and not sure they would care all that much about Game 2. They could even rest regulars with long trip to San Diego and no day off.

If Mets win Game 1, they have interesting choice: Go all out in Game 2 to both get 5-seed and knock Braves out, but resulting in long trip to San Diego; OR settle for 6-seed with shorter trip to Milwaukee with no day off.

Now I get resting guys would piss off Arizona, but the teams would be right to put their own priorities first.

The teams will "work it out" and split the 2 game series.... IMO.
