We're deep into football, basketball and hockey right now so take your pick. I'll let some people post their picks before posting mine so as not to influence anyone.

If you like an announcer let us know why. If you dislike an announcer also let us know why.

In my mind, there's no question who was one of the best: Dick Vitale. I just loved him for his high energy and his unique announcing skills
Nope.....
He was horrible "baby".....

Sure he had a gimmick, strange voice, energy but, not a good announcer for B-ball games.
Jim Nance was great for CBB. Smooth, intelligent. Great announcer.

Only broadcasters I really enjoy are some of the baseball crews. Royals and Astros crews prob my fave. I like Greg Olsen for NFL but that's it, NFL has some good crews but none are special.

Dislike? Joe Tessitore and Gus Johnson are unbearable. Red Sox crew is a f*** abomination.

Let’s be honest - overall the announcers for most sports were far better 30 years ago - because people LISTENED to them.

Now it’s a looks first and thought/commentary second (if at all).

I will still listen to Tom Hamilton call a game for Cleveland - a few other teams announcers I like - but national broadcast - Smoltz is one of the few o can stand to listen to.

Nothing will beat the pac 12 mens basketball tournament when he kept referring to an Oregon player exclusively as "Snoop Dogg" and it was not the kids nickname and he looked nothing like Snoop but that was what Walton alleged. Walton would say his name anytime he could even if bro was just checking in. "ANd a layup for Snoop Dogg" it was hilarious and would have certainly ended in cancellation in today's society.

Smoltz is a smart pitcher. I like it when they talk about what the next pitch should be based on the prior "setup" pitches. 9 times out of 10 Smoltz is right.
