Smoltz is a smart pitcher. I like it when they talk about what the next pitch should be based on the prior "setup" pitches. 9 times out of 10 Smoltz is right.
It seems like they are coaching them to be aggressive so much that it seems unnatural. If they had a soft-speaking feminine lady it would seem out of place though.
I'm the opposite. I used to love to listen to him because I'm a UCLA fan and he was always so dynamic. But it seemed like in his later years he was just being too goofy and it sounded like he had marbles in his mouth when he talked.
Some women annoucers are OK but that is all I can give them is just OK.
I haven't heard any that rise to the level of even coming close to making the top 100 on this list.
That probably sounds biased but, it's my current perception.
