Gonna start the day off with my plays on the bronze and gold medal games in the Olympic mens basketball. First up I like Serbia to win the game against Germany. Yes I believe Germany was arguably the second best team in this tournament but I think they're due for a letdown game coming off that loss to France where they were favored and probably should've been in the gold medal game. Serbia has the best player on the floor in Jokic and I think Germany will have to choose between letting him go wild and shutting down the other players or doubling him making it easier on the Serbian sharpshooters to get open looks at the basket for 3. In the end I think Serbia will continue their hot shooting and win this game so I took them on the moneyline to win the bronze.
My second play is on the USA to cover the 16 point spread against France. Yes USA looked out of sorts against Serbia and quite frankly should've lost the game the way they played on defense. However, I think that they will lock in here on both sides of the ball and win pretty comfortably against a France team that played two perfect games against Canada and Germany to reach the gold medal game. I think USA has answers for whatever France tries to do on offense in this game whether that be to get Wembanyama going or some of their perimeter players. I don't think we see a repeat of the Serbia game where the USA offered little resistance to the barrage of three pointers they gave up on defense. 16 is a lot of points but the USA is plenty talented enough to cover this spread and they know they can't play like they did against Serbia so I think you see a focused effort from the Americans en route to an easy gold medal victory.
