JR's WNBA plays

I have a couple of plays on today's slate and they happen to both be totals so hopefully my reads are good on these games and I finally hit on totals. First up we have the Liberty visiting the Sky and I expect a high intensity playoff type game today because the Sky are hanging on to their playoff lives by a very thin thread and need to win but the Liberty are going to make them earn it and also need to win this game to keep pace with the Aces for the 1st seed. I see there being a lot of points in this game and the total going over 164.5.

In the last game we have a very important game between the Mystics and Sparks where both teams need to win especially the Sparks who are trying to retake the 8th spot away from the Sky. The Mystics are missing 2 key players from their rotation today and Della Donne is still limited so I see them trying to grind out a win on the road today. As a result I see the pace being slower here with both teams relying on their defense to win this game. I went Under 158.5 because of this and also because both teams have been trending under lately in their games.

I think it'll be a close game. It's a game that both teams absolutely need to win so that's why I picked the under because I think defense will be tight in this one. I need this one since I lost on the earlier game today.

All right nice bounce back in the Sparks game to give me a 1-1 day Sunday. No games Monday but a nice 4 game slate on Tuesday for me to try and find some winners.

I'm back with 3 plays on todays's rather large 4 game WNBA slate. First up I like the Sparks to stay within 7.5 points tonight against the Sun. They're in must win mode so I think they'll be focused and ready to play this game plus I'm not sure how hard the Sun play given they're locked into the third seed. I thought about sprinkling half a unit on the ML at +260 but decided to play it safe and take the 7.5 points here.

My second play is on the Chicago Sky who are in a similar spot to the Sparks in that they need this game against the Fever. I went with them on the ML because I think they should beat this Fever team on the road in what essentially amounts to a pickem game here.

Last up I couldn't resist laying it with the Liberty on the road against the Wings. I felt 5.5 points wasn't a big enough spread to scare me off the Liberty who have been rolling as of late and will probably have Sabrina Ionescu back in the lineup tonight. I'm not overthinking this one and taking the team that has been the best in the WNBA to cover tonight on the road against the Wings.

Tough 1-2 day as I was completely right about the Sky but lost on the Sparks +7.5 and the Liberty -5.5. The Sky look better than the Sparks atm and not only do they hold the tiebreaker for the 8th and final playoff spot but they are healthier than the Sparks right now which is vital this time a year. The Sparks are missing too many players and the Sun took advantage of them asserting their dominance in a blowout at home. There is only one game on the slate the next two days so we'll see if I have a play on them or if I wait for Friday's gigantic 5 game slate to come back with some plays.

The Storm have been eliminated so I don't know what kind of effort we get from them but I don't trust the Dream enough to lay 9 points here. I lean Storm +9 and over 163 but I don't feel confident enough in either of those picks to make it an official play so nothing for me today in the WNBA.

Can't pass, can't rebound, foul too much, can't even dribble properly. They can't score and have no clutch fundamentals late in the game. They are on the never bet list with many other trash teams in the Wnba.

I hate the Sparks. I used to think they had the skills to make the playoffs but they are horrible at too many aspects of the game. They're struggling for sure right now. Tough to overcome their best player being out of the lineup but even if Nneka Ogwumike played last night I doubt they would have beaten the Sun who were motivated to get that win at home even though they're locked into the third seed. Right now I think the Sky will make the playoffs and the Sparks will be on the outside looking in because the Sky pass the eye test and the Sparks don't for the reason you highlighted in your post.

Yes the Sky are better as a team and can find the open shot by moving the ball well. They also shoot better from the perimeter while the Sparks are afraid of jump shots.

The Sparks are back in action and are huge underdogs against the Liberty tonight catching 13.5 on the road. I think the Liberty will assert their dominance in the 2nd half here and eventually cover this big line but instead of laying all that chalk here with the home team I went a different direction and took the 1H o82 because I think the Liberty and Sparks both come out with a sense of urgency in the 1H since they both need this game. I see there being plenty of points in the 1H and this getting up over that 1H number. I'm not sure it gets over the full game total here because I think the Liberty will lock down on defense in the second half once they have a commanding lead and that will enable them to cover the spread but perhaps keep the full game total under. Those are just leans though so only the 1H total over for me.
